MY THOUGHTS:
There are days when you put the book and life comes in the way and you don’t read again for months. I cannot thank enough for Sinners of the Fallen Night for helping me not just get back to reading but also reminding me how much i love reading. So, bonus points just for that.
I generally read Epic Fantasy. And they have my heart but time and again I read something different to cleanse my palette. i have to admit this book surprised me in the best possible way. Was it the best book I ever read? No. But this book is very special to me. I think i read some 20% in parts but next 80% was almost a binge read.
Sinners of the Fallen night is not your typical book. It’s gritty, it’s dark and not for the faint heart. but at the same time, it is real, raw and something that is happening around us and is hidden in the darkness.
What i love about this book is how well the characters are written. And not just that i enjoy how they were diverse yet everyone had a point that bought them all together. i love how characters had their voice and feelings that and that made me relate to them. not in the sense that i wanted to go out and do what they were doing. but in the way that i could understand why they did what they did, despite the fact that i would not make the choices they made. i could understand why they did that. And i think that is a fabulous job that the author did considering this book isn’t that long.
One another thing that i enjoyed is that this book is written by an Indian author. As i read mainly fantasy, i am used to new world building. And reading a book by Indian author and in an Indian setting with the names i hear around… it was refreshing and pleasantly surprising.
I also think i enjoyed how there were series of events on one night and how everything, slowly connected. How lives that were not at all linked, came together. There were scenes that was a little predictable but that doesn’t remotely mean that it was very well structured and the clues were very well placed. I also admire the language used. It was well written and i am almost sure the author has edited it really nice.
Overall, i think Sinners of the Fallen Characters is for people who would like a short yet gripping book. I also think this book will work well if you have not read a lot of thriller books. Other than that, people, please read this book and take a chance of the night that changes life of seven sinners.
